Full scholarship to cover all registration fees for each scholarship winner
“1 football player and 1 cheerleader will be eligible for this scholarship each year.
Each potential recipient will need to be nominated by July 1st, each year.
The scholarship includes the cost of 1 registration fee per recipient per year.”

About the Bland Family
The Bland family's commitment to the Waterford Corsairs extended far beyond the sidelines - it was rooted in passion, pride, and an unwavering belief in the power of community. Jay Bland began as an equipment manager, became a head coach, advanced to General Manager of Football, and served as President. His leadership was marked by tireless dedication and a deep love for the game and the families involved. On top of his many roles, Jay was known for personally driving kids to and from practice, ensuring that no child missed an opportunity to play. Jay passed away in 2017, but the impact of his service continues to resonate throughout the organization. Renee Bland was the heartbeat of the concession stand, famously known for her delicious chicken chili. Her care and generosity made every game day feel like home. Renee passed away in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and community spirit.
Their Children
Jayce, Brianna, Keaton, Abbeylin, Billy Jack, Hayden were all active participants in the program, and many later continued their involvement by taking on coaching positions and other leadership roles within the Corsairs organization. When the Corsairs faced challenges, the Blands were the first to step up. They organized car washes, ran concession stands at the Dream Cruise and Pontiac Silverdome, and gave their time, resources, and energy to keep the program thriving. They didn't just support the Corsairs — they helped build a community around it. More than anything, the Blands believed in community bringing families together through Corsair picnics, BBQs, and fostering a deeply connected Corsair football and cheer family. The Bland´s inspired those around them to show up, support one another, and lead with heart. Through their actions, they taught their children and fellow families what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself — to serve, to lead, and to give back.
This scholarship honors their enduring legacy of passion, commitment, and Corsair pride — a legacy that continues to uplift and inspire us all.
